Dr. Robin Waples from NOAA's Northwest Fisheries Science Center collaborated with
Dr. Hitoshi Araki who is a post-doc at Oregon State University, Newport. Various
months 2006.

Over 25 Japanese scientists attended the 3rd International Symposium on Stock
Enhancement and Sea Ranching held in Seattle in September 2006. Dr. Shuichi Kitada
from Tokyo University and Dr. Rejii Masuda from Kyoto University served on the
International Scientific Committee for this symposium.

Dr. Toyomitsu Horii (National Research Institute of Fisheries Science) and Dr. Michael
B. Rust (Northwest Fisheries Science Center) co-convened a PICES science topic session
on Aquaculture and sustainable management of the marine ecosystem, held in Yokohama,
Japan.

Dr. Katsuyuki Abo from the National Research Institute of Aquaculture will be visiting
and working with Dr. Dale Kiefer at the University of Southern California sometime in
the next year.
